Company Overview

"IMC" was founded by Tom Reusse in 1981. Tom, an insurance entrepreneur and also a balloonist, was intrigued by the absence in selection of hot air balloon insurance. Thus, IMC was 'born', creating the largest and oldest nationwide insurer of hot air balloons.

IMC was family owned and operated by Tom Reusse until May of 2004. Upon Tom's retirement IMC was acquired by R.W. Scobie, Inc. (www.rwscobie.com), at which point, IMC became 'IMC Balloon Agency'.

IMC celebrated 25 consecutive years of writing Hot Air Balloon Insurance in 2006. During that time period, the Hot Air Balloon Insurance program has had four underwriters: Empire Indemnity; Jefferson Insurance Co bought by InterState/Fireman's Fund in conjunction with Lloyds of London; and presently, Tudor Insurance Co / Western World Insurance (www.westernworld.com).

R.W. Scobie, Inc., with its corporate office in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, has branches in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Des Moines, Iowa; Omaha, Nebraska and Waukesha, Wisconsin. And, currently has approximately 110 employees.

Company wide, R.W. Scobie, Inc. handles the entire range of Property and Casualty business that exists under the umbrella of a managing general agency. Partnering with the finest specialty, excess & surplus lines and admitted companies in the market place. R.W. Scobie, Inc. is a proud member, and avid supporter of AAMGA (American Association of Managing General Agents). Peter Scobie (past president 1988-1989) and Rob Giles, (past president 2002-2003 and currently University Chancellor), are actively involved in this international association and the AAMGA University. AAMGA strives for continuous improvement of the insurance industry professionalism.

R. W. Scobie is also active members in NAPSLO, IIA, PIA, NAIW, AAMGA UFO (Under Forty Organization), and many local professional and charitable organizations.

Beth Miller, President of IMC Balloon Agency and has been with IMC since 1987. Beth started as receptionist with the company and learned the business from the 'ground up'. Beth has been managing the Hot Air Balloon division since 1992. She was mentored by Tom Reusse and is widely considered an "expert" in Hot Air Balloon Insurance.
